Monthly Wrap Ups

October Wrap Up

Hey bookworms! Happy November! Instead of making some cheesy remark about how time flies, I’m just going to hop right in.

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Blood and Honey by Shelby Mahurin
    • The case of the should-have-been-a-duology, but instead we dragged-it-out-by-adding-an-unnecessary-middle-book.
  • ⭐️⭐️ The Code For Love and Heartbreak by Jillian Cantor
    • I was very excited for an Emma retelling, but it did not live up to my expectations.
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cinder by Marissa Meyer
    • Did I reread Cinder 2 weeks after reading it the first time? Yes, yes I did. Do I regret it? No, no I do not.
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10 Things I Hate About Pinky by Sandhya Menon
    • I think this is my favorite book by Sandhya Menon yet…
  • ⭐️⭐️.5 Recommended For You Laura Silverman
    • The overcoming presence of books and a bookstore setting couldn’t quite make up for the immaturity of the characters
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bookish and the Beast Ashley Poston
    • A nice addition to Once Upon a Con, but Geekerella is still my favorite
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
    • Still a solid meh for me
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cress by Marissa Meyer
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Winter by Marissa Meyer
    • I really like the way Rebecca Soler played Winter’s voice in the audiobook. I feel like it captured the character really well
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
    • Y’all were right. This one is good. The characters all work together in chaotic harmony and I am here for it.
  • ⭐️⭐️ A Court of Thorns and Roses
    • I don’t get the hype for this one…
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 A Court of Mist and Fury
    • … Ok, I see why now.
  • ⭐️⭐️.5 A Court of Wings and Ruin
    • Annnd it went downhill again
  • ⭐️⭐️ A Court of Frost and Starlight
    • This entire book seemed very bow ending to me. I really didn’t need it.

  • 900 followers on Instagram whoooo hooo *celebratory dance*
  • I wrote my first discussion post (Lets Talk Bookish: DNF) and I’m super happy with how it turned out!
  • I went back to in person school. ⅓ of the school goes back to school in person and then the other ⅔ stay on Zoom. It rotates every few days, so once a week I go to real school! It was good to be back but it was kind of eerie.
  • The speech season has officially started! I’m super pumped to be on varsity as a sophomore. I can’t wait to start working with my pieces.
  • Shakespeare in the Park was basically all of my acting and Shakespeare dreams come true. We managed to put together a great show with only Zoom rehearsals.
  • I started binge watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and I might be obsessed. I have spent waaay too much time watching it when I should have been studying, but I don’t regret it one bit.

How was your month? Anything interesting happening? What book did you like the most from this month??

    1. Thanks Katie! It sounds like you had a good month!

I was actually in person today and we ended up talking about the election in nearly every class. I’m really nervous about the outcome and the events that will potentially follow it.

Cemetery Boys is on my tbr! I’ve heard great things about it and hope to check it out from the library. I’m glad to hear you liked it!!

Normally books about books are my jam, so I was kind of sad that I didn’t like recommended for you, but I hope you will!

  2. Ahhh I can relate so much to rereading Cinder haha, I’m so heartened that you enjoyed the Lunar Chronicles, it’s one of my favourites! Ooh thank you for sharing your positive feedback on the audiobook for Winter, I’ve never listened to an audiobook before so I may just start with this. ☺️

Aww so sorry that A Court of Thorns and Roses didn’t live up to your expectations… personally I enjoyed it immensely but I do acknowledge that there were many faults like the romance! Thank you for your honest opinion.🥰

Wow that was a good reading month and congrats on 900 followers on Instagram! 🤪👍

    1. I can’t believe I only read the Lunar Chronicles for the first time a month ago, it is now one of my absolute faves!!

I totally understand why a lot of people really liked acotar and I will agree that acomaf was by FAR the best one, but at the end of the day it just wasn’t my jam. Oh well! At least I understand the references lol

Thank you so much Cherelle! Happy reading 😁

  3. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR INSTA FOLLOWERS!
And for how much you read this month – woohoo! I’m sorry that ACOTAR didn’t live up – I loved the series, and I still do, but I have definitely now been exposed to a lot of points of the series that has brought down the value for me.

    1. AAH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
I had such a great reading month 🙂 Even if ACOTAR wasn’t earth shattering for me I’m glad to have read it— I now understand all the reference. Gone are the days of wondering about chapter 55 lol. I will def be reading A Court of Silver Flames when it comes out.

    1. Thank you so much! I was a bit hesitant about Six of Crows because it was build up in my mind, but I actually really like it. Fantasy isn’t normally my thing, but I might venture into the genre a bit more. Do you have any recommendations??

    1. Honestly, Blood and Honey was very underwhelming. I really loved the characters (mostly Lou not gonna lie), so I ended up mostly reading for that.
No problem! I really loved your post. It is a topic that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough and I think your discussion is super important. Thank you for writing such a great post.
      Happy reading!
